Camping Safari

Day by Day Description

Day 1 - Arrival in Arusha
Upon your arrival, whether it is at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport, what steps should you take (ARK), a warm welcome from Ishi Africa Safaris awaits you. They will take care of your transportation to your Arusha accommodation, where you will spend the night. The anticipation of the thrilling safari experience that awaits you the next day will make your stay even more memorable.
Day 2 - Lake Manyara National Park
Once we finish breakfast, we'll begin our journey to our destination: Lake Manyara National Park, a breathtakingly beautiful place known for its rich birdlife and tree-climbing lions. The park's western boundary is marked by the dramatic western escarpment of the Rift Valley, while its eastern side is home to the shallow, alkaline Lake Manyara. During the rainy season, the lake floods and attracts thousands of flamingos. The name Manyara comes from the Maasai word 'emanyara,' a plant commonly used to build protective enclosures around homesteads. The park's vegetation is diverse, ranging from savannah to evergreen forest. While exploring the park, we may encounter giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, elephants, and, if lucky, lions lounging on trees. After a satisfying lunch and an extensive game drive, we'll head to our campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3 & 4 - Serengeti National Park
We will begin our journey after having breakfast. Serengeti National Park. This park is magnificent and renowned for its vast open grasslands that offer excellent wildlife sightings. It is Tanzania's oldest national park and one of the oldest ecosystems, with a climate and vegetation that have remained largely untouched for millions of years. Although the Serengeti is home to various wildlife, it is best known for the annual Great Migration. Every year, many wildebeest, zebra, and antelope move in search of fresh grazing, and the timing of this migration depends on the rainfall patterns each year. After a satisfying lunch and an extensive game drive, we will go to the Campsite for dinner and an overnight stay, spending two nights inside this breathtaking park.
Day 5 - Serengeti to Ngorongoro
After breakfast, we will drive through Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater. The crater's sight is breathtaking, hidden behind towering volcanic walls. The pristine wilderness is home to sweeping savannahs, pockets of acacia woodland, and shimmering lakes and swamps. We will arrive at our accommodation in the evening and enjoy dinner before settling in for the night at our chosen campsite.
Day 6 - Ngorongoro Crater
Following an early breakfast, you will embark on a thrilling descent into a crater that is a staggering 600 meters deep. This magnificent crater was formed millions of years ago due to a colossal volcanic eruption that caused the volcano's collapse. It is renowned for its geological marvels and a natural reserve that boasts some of the highest concentrations of large mammals on the African continent. The drive down to the crater is a true adventure, and once you reach the crater floor, you will encounter vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and over 500 species of birds. The crater provides the perfect opportunity to spot the elusive black rhino, occasionally roaming the open grasslands. After a delectable lunch and an extensive game drive, we will head to our campsite for dinner and an overnight stay. Day 7 - Tarangire to Departure
We will start after having a tasty breakfast—our trip to Tarangire National Park. The park comes from the Tarangire River that flows through it, providing a vital water source for the region's wildlife during the dry season. The park boasts diverse vegetation, including thick areas of elephant grass, acacia woodlands, and lush groundwater forests. One highlight of the park is the elephant families often gathering by the river. Keep your eyes peeled for giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, too. Remember, where prey is plentiful, predators are just a little behind. Lions and leopards are among the park's top predators. And did you know? Tarangire National Park is home to more breeding bird species than any other place on Earth! After lunch and a thrilling game drive, we will return to Arusha.
