Day by Day Description

Day 1 - Arrival in Arusha
When you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK) - which caters to domestic flights - a representative from Ishi African Safaris will meet you. They will then drive you to your accommodation in Arusha. You will spend the night at your accommodation, eagerly anticipating your safari adventure the following day.
Day 2 - Lake Manyara National Park
Our destination is Lake Manyara National Park, where we will soon depart. Our destination is Lake Manyara National Park, where we will quickly leave early after breakfast. This park is a pristine paradise famous for its large variety of birds and lions that climb trees. The Rift Valley's western escarpment is a stunning sight. This defines the west boundary of the park. On the east side is the shallow and alkaline Lake Manyara, which covers a vast area of the park and floods and dries up with the seasons. During the rainy season, thousands of flamingos call this lake their home. The name Manyara comes from the Maasai term 'Manyara,' which refers to a popular plant used to construct protective enclosures around family homesteads, known as bomas. The vegetation in the park is diverse, ranging from savannah to evergreen forests. While exploring the park, you may encounter giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, elephants, and, if you're fortunate, lions lounging in the trees. After an extensive game drive and lunch, we will head to our partner lodges in Karatu for a comfortable dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3 & 4 - Serengeti National Park
After enjoying breakfast in the early morning, we will embark on a journey to the magnificent Serengeti National Park. This park is renowned for its vast open grasslands, providing exceptional opportunities to observe wildlife. The Serengeti is not only Tanzania's oldest National Park but also one of the oldest ecosystems on the planet. Its climate and vegetation have remained unchanged for millions of years. Although the park is home to numerous wildlife species, it is most famous for the annual Great Migration, where many wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes move in search of fresh grazing. The park is also known for its big cats, such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and endless plains. The timing of the Migration is determined by the rainfall patterns that occur each year. Following an extensive game drive and lunch, we will head to our Tented partner lodges for dinner and an overnight stay. We will spend two nights inside this awe-inspiring park.
Day 5 - Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro
After breakfast, we'll drive through Serengeti National Park before heading to Ngorongoro Crater. The view of the crater is breathtaking, almost like a world that time has forgotten. The steep volcanic walls enclose a pristine wilderness with sweeping savannahs, pockets of acacia woodland, and glistening lakes and swamps. Later in the evening, we'll arrive at our carefully chosen lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6 - Ngorongoro Crater to Karatu
After enjoying an early breakfast, you will descend into the almost 600m deep crater. This incredible phenomenon was created several million years in the past. When a large volcano erupts and collapses in on itself, it is renowned for its geological marvels and being a natural reserve that boasts one of the densest populations of large mammals on as we make our way towards the African continent, we embark on a thrilling journey down into the Crater—an exciting adventure in itself. Once you reach the Crater floor, you will be surrounded by vast numbers of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 species of birds. The Crater offers an excellent opportunity to glimpse the endangered black rhino, which occasionally wanders the open grasslands. After lunch, you will have an extensive game drive inside the Crater before heading to our comfortable partner lodges in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 7 - Tarangire to Departure
We will set out for Tarangire National Park early after breakfast. This park is named after the Tarangire River, which flows through it. During the dry season, this "river of warthogs" is the region's only water source for wildlife. Some areas have thick vegetation, such as elephant grass, acacia woodlands, and lush groundwater forests. The park is renowned for its elephant families, often gathering by the river. You might also spot giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, followed closely by predators like lions and leopards. You'll find more breeding bird species in Tarangire National Park than elsewhere! We'll have lunch and an extensive game drive before returning to Arusha.
