8 Days Safari

Overview

Experience a unique tour focused on Serengeti's Great Migration. Our itinerary includes at least three nights in the park - one in the Central Area, where big cats are most abundant, and two in areas where the Migration is present at that time of the year. Our tour culminates in Tarangire National Park, renowned for its elephant families gathering by the river.

Lodge Safari

Day by Day Description

Day 1 - Arrival in Arusha
When you arrive at either Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), a representative from Ishi Africa Safaris will greet you and drive you to your accommodation in Arusha. You'll spend the night at your lodging, eagerly anticipating the start of your safari the next day.
Day 2 - Lake Manyara National Park
Our departure for Lake Manyara National Park is scheduled for early morning after breakfast. This park is a pristine haven and is most well-known for its wide variety of birds and lions that climb trees. The Rift Valley's stunning western escarpment forms the park's western boundary, while the shallow, alkaline Lake Manyara lies to the east. The lake is vast and floods and dries up according to the seasons, and during the rainy season, it is home to thousands of flamingos. The park's name, Manyara, is derived from the Maasai term 'emanyara,' which refers to a commonly used plant in constructing protective enclosures around family settlements (bomas). The park's flora is varied, ranging from savannah to evergreen forests. While exploring the park, you may see giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, elephants, and, if you're fortunate, lions relaxing in trees. After a fulfilling lunch and an extensive game drive, we'll retire to our partner lodges in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay in comfort.
Day 3 - Serengeti National Park
Once we have finished our breakfast, we will commence our journey toward our destination. The Serengeti is a breathtaking destination, famous for its expansive grasslands that offer exceptional wildlife sightings. As Tanzania's oldest national park, it is also one of the oldest ecosystems on earth, with its climate and vegetation remaining unchanged for millions of years. Although the Serengeti is home to abundant wildlife, it's most famous for the annual Great Migration, where many wildebeest, zebra, and antelope traverse the park for fresh grazing. The timing of the migration is dependent on specific factors. Rainfall patterns each year. After a delicious lunch and a comprehensive game drive, we will head to our tented partner lodges for dinner and a comfortable overnight stay.
Day 4 & 5 - Serengeti National Park { Ndutu Area }
We began our day with breakfast before going to the southern part of the Serengeti National Park, known as Ndutu. This area includes Lake Ndutu, located in the Ngorongoro conservation area and is part of the ecosystem of southern Serengeti. Although the lake is alkaline like other Rift lakes, the water is still drinkable and is a crucial source for many local wildlife species. From December to April, most of the wildebeest migration can be found on the short-grass plains, and the region is also heavily populated with elephants, birds, and other resident games. After a satisfying lunch and an extensive game drive, we will head to our partner lodges to enjoy dinner and spend the night in comfortable tents. You will have the opportunity to spend two nights in Ndutu, surrounded by the area's natural beauty.
Day 6 - Ndutu to Ngorongoro
After breakfast, we'll drive through the Ndutu area before heading to Ngorongoro. The crater is a breathtaking sight that resembles a lost world, hidden behind towering volcanic walls. Within this pristine wilderness lie expansive savannahs, pockets of acacia woodland, and shimmering lakes and swamps. Later in the evening, we'll arrive at our carefully chosen lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 7 - Ngorongoro to Karatu
After enjoying an early breakfast, you will descend into the almost 600m deep crater. This crater was formed millions of years ago when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed. It is known for its geological wonders and being a natural reserve that boasts Africa is home to some of the highest concentrations of large mammals. The drive down into the crater is an adventure in itself, and once you reach the crater floor, you will be surrounded by countless wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and over 500 species of birds. The crater offers the best opportunity to glimpse the endangered black rhino, sometimes in the open grasslands. After a satisfying lunch and extensive game drive within the cavity, we will head to our partner lodges in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 8 - Tarangire to Departure
After having breakfast early in the morning, we will depart for Tarangire National Park, named after the Tarangire River that runs through it. During the dry season, this river is the region's only water source for wildlife, earning its nickname "river of warthogs." The park's vegetation boasts a variety of dense vegetation, such as elephant grass, acacia woodlands, and lush groundwater forests. Its elephant families are a popular attraction, often observed gathering near the river. Other animals, such as giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, are also common sightings. Predators such as lions and leopards closely follow these animals. Tarangire National Park is home to more breeding species of birds than any other place on the planet! After an extensive game drive and lunch, we will return to Arusha.
